The news I've been hoping for. Orbit USA have offered to publish my first Trilogy, Fire of Heaven, in the US.
Orbit are new to the American scene. They are a branch of the successful Orbit UK, backed by Hachette Livre. Their launch season is scheduled for September 2007 - June 2008, and Across the Face of the World will be part of it.
Of course this is exciting. It's also full of mystery. How well will Orbit do in the US? (At least they will be motivated to promote the book - I hope!) Is there a niche for my style and subject matter? I can't wait to find out.
congratulations Russ! That is wonderful news *g*

Fantastic news, Russ. Well done. And having just come from meeting with the Orbit US team in NY, and the UK team in London, I have to say I'm feeling so confident. I doubt we could be in any better hands. And of course there is a niche for you!!!!!!
Of course your books will do well in US of A. They love fantasy/scifi there and your books are up with the best.

Great news Russ and well deserved. I hope they use the existing cover art instead making their own.
Phill.

Bet they don't Phil - My US publisher told me that figures are what sell bks in the US, not scenery.
Yes, and you've got to have a good figure to get away with a chainmail bikini.
Congrats, Russky!

Russky has a figure sutiable for wearing a chainmail bikini?

Congrats Russell.
Don't you let them put you into a chainmail bikini - you stand up to for yourself. It's the Princes Leah slave outfit or nothing (ok, maybe not nothing).

I was certain those chainmail bikini pictures of me had been taken down. Oh dear.

Definitely not nothing, Cameron.
Phill, Glenda's right. There'll be one or more not-quite-right figures on the cover, no doubt. I'll be interested to see what they come up with. The Australian covers are great, and I absolutely adore the UK covers. So who knows?

Russ, who did your Fire of Heaven covers?
I think they are probably the best current Fantasy covers in Aus/NZ (Trudi C's recent ones are close second).

The Australian cover artist is Greg Bridges (www.gregbridges.com). He also did my Path of Revenge cover. I've purchased large format prints of each cover, I like them so much.
