Now reading: Nothing
Home again, and having slept 13 hours a day for the last two days, I think I'm over my jet lag.
So: did I get my money back?
Yes. You bet.
I growled at the Cathay Pacific people, and very nice woman admitted that she'd been in charge when the mistake had been made. She assured me it was their mistake and would be put right. Spiked my guns, she did: I was looking forward to shouting.
Well, on to novel writing. I have two people working on the atlas stuff: for now I will focus exclusively on writing. My goal is 3000 words per day. I'll report to you on my progress.
3000 words a day BUT will they be any good

How evil of her. She admitted she was right, straight away, and fixed the problem? Before you could really get into shouting mode? Evilness at its height - I suspect this woman would have made a wonderful minion, being that good at keeping people off balance

All words are good. It's a matter of what order I put them in.

I've always fancied reading an epic fantasy with the words in alpabetical order, myself. "A bit cruel," for instance might be the very first words you write.

You mean something like:
'A bit cruel!' Delphinia expostulated.
'From great heights, incidentally,' Jocasta Kiniminster lamented. 'Maybe nothing, or perhaps quixotic?'
'Rather!' she teased. 'Unless - '
'Very worrying x-ray, yeah?'
'Zealot!'
and so on...

Very clever Russell, how about if every word began with an R

I want a novel, not a simple abcedary. (Are abcedaries related to dromedaries? Inquiring minds want to know.)

I did say 'and so on,' Gillian. I was asking whether that was the sort of thing you meant. You are such a hard taskperson.
All 'R's would be tough. I do know there's a novel out there which does not have a single letter 'e' in it: http://www.spinelessbooks.com/gadsby/
The world is a strang plac.

Yes, Russell, like that. It's the sort of thing I mean (except with an understandable plot and good characterisation etc). 40,000 words minimum. And it would be nice to see it soon :).

But Gillian, I can't do understandable plot or good characterisation no matter what letter the words begin with ...

You believe the one critic who pans you rather than the thousands who (silently) adore your work? Obviously you just need a bit more practice at the word order thing so as to communicate your immense talents to the unseeing few.

Someone panned my work? Who were they? I'll duff them up ...
Ah, I hope no one takes us seriously, Gillian.

You're joking, right? *g*
It would be interesting if someone took us seriously. We could invent vast scholarly theories based on parlour games and give examples of deeper meanings by quoting novels we never intend to write.

It's been done, Gillian. It's called post-modernism.
Posted By Russell / Posted At 1/21/07 5:26 AM
That's old hat. We can use much better parlour games on which we can base a whole empire of vast theories.

Waiting waiting waiting for new blog. Ok, so I know both arms are causing grief, but how are the toes?
