Russell Kirkpatrick's Journal

Not much of a one for hospitals, me. So when I found myself yesterday in an ambulance on the way to the hospital, I wasn't happy. My doctor had last Friday changed my medications and my heart acted up - seems I have an irregular heartbeat. Lovely. A night in hospital, dartboard for the nurses. Woo.

All better now, I'm back at home and back on deck, ready to take every suggestion in my naming competition extremely seriously.

Comments

Wow. Glad to hear your safe and sound.

I suggest you don't let your doctor fiddle with your medication again. This is definitely a case of 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' as far as I can see.

Take care.

Phill.

Yeah, problem was my BP was low (115/60) and he thought removing the beta blocker would help. I argued with him, but he wouldn't write me a scrip. Ah well, I've learned something, at least. I didn't know about the irregular heartbeat.

Geez, Russell! Good info to have, but did you have to hunt it down in such a dramatic fashion...?

Take care of yourself, my friend!

I'm glad it worked out OK, but yes, do you have to test things so very thoroughly? When you're properly well let us know and we'll celebrate. How did I know you weren't fine yet? You said you'd take *all* suggestions seriously.

Glad that you are Ok. Hospitals are not fun places - I hope at least you wern't in a ward with a view of the funeral home the way the coronary care unit at Hutt hospital has.

Glad you're back home...don't do anything like that again, will you?

Gosh Russ, I saw the post title and nearly had a ... er... heart attack ;)

Here's hoping you don't lose any more arguments with silly doctors.

Russell came into work today and he looked his old self....well not THAT bad, but you know what I mean. Geeezzz we can't let anything happen to you "Russ" who would we pick on!!

Glad to hear you're home and all better. I hate hospitals too. I have to go to one on Thurs for some tests. Yay me!

Sheesh! The lengths some people will go for research ...

Yeah, it was all in the name of research, Karen.

Good luck with your tests, Amanda. If you remember the book launch of In Bad Dreams, I did say I a) hated hospitals and b) had never been admitted to one. Well, now one of those is no longer true.

And yes, Linda, I do realise my pick-on-ability is a public service!

So now you know what you are hating...but hey, what's an irregular heartbeat or two? Remember that Sellers/Loren song? Keeping it beating is the crucial part, the rest is just trimming.

The lengths some people will go to to get out of visiting the sandpit!

You were missed.... really.... *smiles innocently*

You just take care of yourself, you hear?

Some of us have better ways, Barbara - we live somewhere where by the time we remember it's tuesday evening and we should be in the sandpit, everyone else is on Wednesday morning.

Don't worry, Glenda, I'm grateful it's still ticking. But it's odd that all those extra beats meant that less blood got around. My goodness, I've been tired since. I hope this isn't what it's like to be old ...

Of course none of us on here knows what it is like to be old so we cannot help you there Russell. I need my reading copy back ta, Sheryl wants it :-)

Reading copy of what? he asked innocently ...

Seriously, Russ, it's a great relief to hear you're back on your feet and not too worse for wear. It's been a week for great writers having moments -- Pratchett's just discovered he has a stroke a while ago! He never realised it!

Hope this doesn't put too big a crimp in your writing.

testing

No crimp, Karen, but I've been slow for the last week as the meds get sorted out. Had a heart scan today, and it's a big all-clear. Woo.

Good to know that there's a heart in there (I know, if there's an obvious joke/comment, you can trust me to use it...nothing original here!!!). *grin*

Whew. Good to hear.

In fact, huge relief. Cos if you're well then we don't have to feel guilty when we annoy you and get your blood pressure up a bit.
