Russell Kirkpatrick's Journal

I'm writing to a deadline. i want to write 6000 words per day. I've been doing it for a few days now. And goodness, is it difficult. It's so hard not to write the same expressions over and over. In the end I gave in - I can always vary them on the first read through. Six thousand words take me about eight hours to write and leave me completely exhausted. Still, it means I'll meet my deadline. And, since the book is near its end, it's entirely appropriate that the pace should quicken.

Oh, by the way, my guestbook is under attack by a serial sex-site spammer. It's already cost me half an hour today cleaning it up. The spam will be back tomorrow, I'm sure.

Don't all rush off to look. I'm watching you ...

sex sites serial spam author's guestbooks? Maybe you shouldn't have told people you write Adult Fantasy?

I'd never rush off to look at sex site serial type spamming. Granny on the other hand ...

I do apologise for bugging you at a 6,000 word a day time. I thought I was simply interrupting Lost.

Make sure you get proper time out - that's a breakbrain pace.

(I get that sort of spam on my Food History blog, BTW - Akismet does a lovely job of protecting me from it.)

I have my guestbook set up so I approve the entries before they appear on the site. That seems to deter the spammers, since none of their posts ever end up visible. And I don't have to deal with it every day or hour if I don't want to.

Now, if only I could think of a system that deters people from leaving spoilers. Guess it's always much harder to protect against stupidity :)

wow that ishmael is a busy person

Trip report please, Linda.

Linda, do a report on Ishmael as well. Just to make Russell's life complete. (please?)

Good luck on the mad rush to deadline. 6k a day, consistently, is a massive ask, most especially for someone whose work is so detailed and convoluted. I'm sure you can do it -- but be kind to yourself afterwards and let yourself fall down in a heap!

I would do a trip report but I know you are far too busy to look on here to read it.

Rubbish. I'm checking here every couple of hours. Get on with it!

Russell thinks it's going to be a continuation of Lost? (deprivation symptoms at work)

Ok you guys are in for a treat....here is my space blog :-)
No rude comments please Russell!!

I don't have a MySpace acount and can't comment there, so I'm invading Russell's space to say what a fab trip, Linda :).
