The first of my con reports ...

Here I am in Canberra, visiting friends before Conflux starts on Friday. Today I'm having lunch with Gillian, and if I survive that I have a book signing at 6pm tonight at Dymocks Belconnen.

Dymocks Belconnen have been a great support to not only myself but many other writers. It gives an author a great feeling to know there are bookshops out there who treat you as more than just 'product'.

Of course, I'd have to include Pennys Bookshop in Hamilton on that list. Now if only they'd get rid of that crazy Linda ...

I'm so relieved you realise that you may not survive lunch :).

you're serving weird coloured eggplants, he'd have had to realise there was a possibility of non-survival. *g*

And Canberra's only your favourite Australian city because you've never ventured to the thriving metropolis of Culcairn, Russ. *considers admitting I may have fibbed a bit about Culcairn's thriving metropolis status, decides against making any such admission*

Russell went to Fyshwick. (Now you all know and I'm in immense trouble when he reads the comments on his blog.)

Russell spent hundreds of dollars in Fyshwick. Work that out.

Granny has her suspicions.

Your wish is granted Russell

How dare you offer a word censure of any kind to the estimable Linda...the woman rocks. She is a pearl beyond price and I want her cloned. Multiple times. And distributed to as many bookshops as we can find...

You're right, Glenda, Linda is fantastic and I don't know how lucky I am. But don't tell her that ...

I'm sure she'll never find out... I've been reading Gillian's descriptions of Conflux to date and am so envious and wishful I was there!! The second day of our epic camping trip the wheels fell off our camper-trailer...literally! The axle broke away from the base and the trailer dragged along the highway with the wheels bouncing away to the side of the road like a pair of really big dumb-bells. Fortunately, no-one was hurt and the car wasn't damaged, but boy, did it put a dampener on the holiday! Knew I should have talked him into Canberra instead *grin*.

Jo thats awful, at least with that happening the blow of loosing the World cup to us wont seem too bad! Seriously hope the rest of your holiday goes without a hitch and you have good weather....my one day off and its raining.

Thanks for those kind thoughts Linda, knew I could count on you for a sympathetic ear... I am refusing to engage in World Cup trash talking, just on the ever-so-miniscule chance that we get beaten by the All-Blacks in the next round *grin*.

Hey Linda, reading back over a few of these old blogs, have you noticed that whenever we start talking about rugby, Russell makes a new entry, probably to get us off topic?? Now we know how to get him back at the computer, giving us new things to talk about, heh, heh!

If you could manage to send some of that rain to Central Queensland, they would be very grateful (might get rid of some of the flies, too).
