Russell the Flasher

 30-Sep-2007

Conflux is fabulous - again. We had great fun on the panels - can you believe that someone thought it was a good idea to put me as chair of a panel looking at Australia from the outside? A whole hour of belittling our West Island friends!

Best part so far was taking the disco by storm. I'm a notorious non-dancer, but I acquired a new toy earlier this year and was keen to try it out. It's a shirt that flashes leds like the equalizer on a stereo in time with the beat. So I cranked out a few slick dance moves aided by my electric t-shirt. Woo Hoo!

Back home tomorrow, sadly, once again leaving all my Aussie friends behind. I'll even miss Gillian. I get home to the copy edit of my latest novel, Dark Heart. I'm ecstatic with the way its shaping up ... but it would be nice to stay here just a little longer ...

See Linda, works like a charm...

Haha....yes you were right! Russell dancing, somehow I get an image of Mr Bean and his swinging arms :=)

Oh yeah, ta Linda...now I have a mental image that is going to keep me up at night *shudder*. (Sorry Russell, but anyone who wears a shirt like that, deserves all that they get!)

Why do I attract bloggers with such obvious bad taste?

This from the guy dancing in a shirt with flashing LED's... Besides, how can you suggest I have bad taste when I think your books are so good?

She's got you there, russell.

Russell is capable of many things that seem impossible to other mortals. Not signed jellybeans, though.

That's because I wasn't reminded, Gillian. Capable, but not cognisant. I'm surprised you haven't told them about the uneaten chocolate pizza, dear Gillian.

I can, but you were so miserable over that I thought I wouldn't make it public.

What? He forgot the jellybeans? AND he made you watch him dance?? Obviously anything that makes Russell miserable should be made public, at least within this forum *grin*.

it would make him much more miserable if he were forced to explain the pizza himself than if I explain it.

I was one of a select few invited to lunch at Gillian's house last Thursday. Now Gillian is a foodie: you just have to check out her food blog to work that out. So this is not an invitation to be sneezed at. It was 'make your own pizza' - but there were about seven of us (I think) and three pizzas, so I made one for at least two people.

Trouble is, by the time mine was cooked, everybody else had eaten. I was left with a whole pizza to eat, and I only ate one slice. It had nothing to do with the fact that I'd put chocolate on the pizza, honest.

I liked those Italian doughnut thingies, though. MMMM.

Do you have any pictures to share of your trip Russell

Russell's comments on various panels will be up soon (some are up already) here http://www.conflux.org.au/blog/

In my ideal world I would like Russ's thoughts on all ths in *much* greater detail (except things I did wrong - no more detail needed, in fact no report needed at all).

Report coming ...

Yippee!!
