The Great Unwashed

 10-Oct-2008

There's nothing like the aroma of unwashed teenager. I've just taken a load of them home after a night wargaming. Oh boy - I'll have to leave the windows on the car open all day tomorrow. How do they do it?

Glad to hear Conflux 5 went well. Actually, I'm not. I hope you all had a miserable time. While you were conning I was on the golf course, trying to earn a place in the Waikato team at the end-of-season Freyberg Master's tournament. I missed out - by one place.

My books are going great in the USA. The Fire of Heaven trilogy was released earlier this year and there are more than 100,000 of them in print. Thanks for your support!

Commiserations on the golf - I missed Conflux too, but there's always next year!!

You missed out on alcoholic cupcakes - and we have, courtesy of the wonderful Cora, found a great pub for next year's purplezone Conflux get together. *g*

Bi carb soda gets rid of the smell of unwashed teenagers from one's car.

So I take the bicarbonate of soda and wash the teenagers with it?

And yes, 'always next year' is true, Jo, but I'm a 'have your cake and eat it' kind of guy. The same trial is on the same dates next year, and I guess so is Conflux. Arrrgh.

Next year I'm prepared to miss out on both of my kid's birthdays to attend Conflux. Now I realise that this isn't as drastic as missing a golf tournament, but these are the lengths to which I will go *grin*!!!!!!

Not just *a* golf tournament, but the chief selection tournament to make the Freyberg Masters team. Your kids will have future birthdays, after all, and may invite you to one or two of them.

well, you could wash the teenagers - personally I never wanted to get that close to them. I find it a lot easier to open box of bi-carb, and sit it in the car to absorb the odours. Of course you do have to remember to remove the open box before you drive off. Otherwise you have to vacuum, and you know Granny always reccomends avoiding extra work *g*

Granny, as always, comes up trumps.

You're right Russell, I wasn't thinking! My priorities obviously needed straightening out, thank you.

*grin*

Congratulations on the US! There can't be too many kiwi authors with 100,000 copies in print in the US. Outstanding!

Thanks, Grant. I have to admit I'm delighted. Good taste, those Americans :)
