Yesterday I saw a cyclist using hand signals. I thought hand signals were illegal?

My father used to do hand signals in his car, when the stick-out indicators didn't work. I think I had to learn hand signals when I first got my license.

Cyclists should always use hand signals. Unfortunately many don't, they just expect drivers to know where they are planning to turn. Don't get me started on cyclists not using their bells....
